How to Get A Grip: Coping Skills for Complicated Times
This book is my attempt at putting into writing the core principles and ideas that I have used over the years I have been working as a psychologist. It summarizes and organizes the advice and suggestions I have used with countless clients. My hope now is that it can be used by a broader audience to help more people have a sense that there are tools to help manage stress that can feel more accessible and actionable. I see the book as part story and part work book which is why I have put in worksheets and to-lists that you can use to help put the ideas into practice. I know that some of the handouts will feel redundant or silly so please use the ones you like and forget about the rest. I also know that going through the routine of writing things down and seeing thoughts on the page is a way to help make the change process more clear and attainable. I encourage all readers to take the chance of making a change, even if it seems minimal at first, to see how it feels and notice what is possible.
